In August of 2023, SEIU Local 200United, representing employees at the Samuel S. Stratton VAMC in Albany, New York and the surrounding clinics, the VAMC in Buffalo, New York and surrounding clinics, the VAMC in Canandaigua, New York and surrounding clinics, the VAMC in Erie, Pennsylvania and nearby clinics and the VAMC in Syracuse, New York and surrounding clinics, filed five grievances against the VA on behalf of all of the bargaining unit employees in these locations. The Grievances alleged violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and Title V (FEPA), among other violations.
The Law Offices of Snider and Associates, as the legal representatives for the Union, are working hard for the bargaining unit employees to ensure that their rights under federal law are upheld. As part of the process, we have been contacting VA employees about their job duties and how much unpaid overtime they have worked.
The Parties have not yet selected arbitrators in these matters and are currently working towards exchanging information with the goal of resolving the cases.
If you are or were in one of the SEIU Local 200United bargaining units working for the VA in either Albany, Buffalo, Canandaigua, Erie or Syracuse, please go to www.seiuflsa.com and complete the initial survey to share information about overtime for which you did not receive proper compensation.
All Title 5 and Title 38 hybrid bargaining unit employees, whether or not they are members of the union, and regardless of position or pay grade, may be covered by this grievance and could potentially benefit from a successful result.
